The right tool makes the job easier, but a good tool can make it a pleasure.

Smith’s Bay Ironworks is a small forge and machine shop making hand tools and classical forged pieces. I believe in taking the wisdom of the old school blacksmiths and meeting it with the insights of modern engineering. To that, my goal is to create beautiful and uncompromising work that you can rely on for generations.

Our heritage

Smith’s Bay Ironworks gets its name from my matrilineal family name Smedsvig, in Norwegian Smed means smith or blacksmith and Vig is the old spelling of Vik, a bay.
