Most makers of things get used to people close to them suggesting, requesting, or otherwise giving them ideas. Generally this takes the form of something tired you did a decade ago or so complex it would take another decade to complete. Often this comes in the form of having to explain to a wide eyed 10 year old, who has just finished hitting you in the shins with a stick, why you couldn’t possibly make them a sword. But these ideas offer a new perspective, and occasionally it takes the form of something you have never seen before.
